The Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence is currently seeking candidates to join our diverse staff in the following positions:

Job Title: Lowell Community Engagement and Site Coordinator (Full Time Position, 40 hours/week, non-exempt)
Division/Department: Community Based Services
Reports to: Asian Shelter and Advocacy Program (ASAP) Operations Manager and ASAP Shelter/Clinical Manager
Schedule: Typically weekdays (M-F) 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with possible after hours and weekend work.

Summary:

The Lowell Office Coordinator position is based out of our Lowell site and serves the community in Greater Lowell and the Northeastern Region of MA; though services extend throughout Massachusetts and occasionally bordering states to provide needed services to Pan-Asian victims, survivors, and their children. The Lowell Community Engagement and Site Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining community relations and maintaining day-to-day operations at ATASK’s Lowell Satellite Office.

ATASK’s mission is to prevent domestic violence in Asian families and communities and to provide hope to survivors.  The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for victims, survivors and their children and will work as a team member of ATASK to provide comprehensive services to the Asian community.

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Community Engagement: Serves as the ambassador for Lowell site, engaging community, leaders and providers
  • Operations: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ATASK Lowell Site

Main Activities are:

Community Engagement:

  • Work closely with ATASK Community Engagement Specialist and ATASK Managers
    • Build and maintain relations with providers in existing and developing Asian hubs in primarily Northeastern MA.
    • Provide ATASK information sessions to community and cultural specific stakeholders.
    • Provide Community Outreach to the Pan-Asian population and local business in primarily Northeastern MA
    • Work with managers to develop and maintain a community engagement plan
  • Participate in existing and new ATASK partnerships in the Northeast region, or where needed.
  • Attend community and coalition meetings
  • Coordinate and participate in policy advocacy and research projects.
  • Develop vast knowledge of community resources and agencies/institutions and contacts

Site Coordinator

  • Work closely with ASAP Operations Manager and ATASK Administration and Operations Coordinator
    • Ensure functionality and resolves any issues with IT, client database, equipment and the physical office space.
    • Manage purchase and delivery of supplies to the Lowell Site
  • Support and assist Lowell Advocate/Case Managers and Legal Program with client or programmatic-related activities.
    • Provide support on client and filing system
    • Answer office and hotline calls

Other:

  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, case meetings, and trainings
  • Assist in supervising interns
  • Participate in ATASK fundraising and community events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • College degree in social work, sociology or related field preferred, not required
  • Experience working with Asian immigrant and refugee communities
  • 1-2 years experience working with or in relation to victims of violence, preferred
  • Bi/multilingual in Khmer or another Asian language preferred
  • Experience in outreach, community engagement, and organizing
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Good public speaking, writing and presentation skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong documentation and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends

Job Title: Shelter Residential Counselor
Division/Department: Shelter
Reports to: Shelter Co-Coordinators
Schedule: Full Time (this is an ideal position for someone in school or looking for a second job)

Overnight shifts are from 8pm to 8am (sleep hours are 11am-7pm); Weekend and Holiday Shifts are from 8am to 8pm

Summary: The Shelter Residential Counselor is a Full-Time position responsible for maintaining and overseeing the daily operations of ATASK’s emergency domestic violence shelter during week nights, weekends, and holidays.  This is an exciting opportunity for those looking for hands-on experience in social work and advocacy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with everyday basic needs
  • Be available to shelter residents; may occasionally need to attend to clients during sleep hours (11pm-7am)
  • Answer ATASK’s 24-hour hotline, may occasionally need to answer hotline during sleep hours (11pm-7am)
  • Provide emotional support to residents
  • Foster and develop relationships with residents to build a strong sense of community
  • Comprehensively understand and enforce shelter rules, protocols, and procedures
  • Possess a clear understanding of Shelter staff and CBS advocate’s roles – provide support, information, referrals, and collaborate communications between shelter residents and direct services staff.
  • Report in writing and communicate with Shelter Co-Coordinators, Clinical Manager, staff, interns, and primary advocates when issues arise
  • Prepare bedrooms for new residents, and assist with move-ins and move-outs
  • Give shelter tours  to new residents
  • Perform required duties within appropriate time frames according to daily duty log and assignments
  • Ensure security of the house and conduct walk through periodically
  • Maintain confidential records and summary logs
  • Enforce and oversee community cleaning with residents
  • Maintain cleanliness of the house
  • Address maintenance issues when possible, and report maintenance issues that were not resolved

Other Responsibilities

  • Short-term childcare assistance upon request
  • Allocate food from Food Bank when necessary
  • Coordinate and initiate in-house activities with families
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent
  • Preserve our clients’ confidentiality as well as the location of the shelter
  • Finish state-required 25-hour Domestic Violence Training provided by the agency
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Pass CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check
  • Attend monthly staff meetings ad scheduled supervisions
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and resolve conflicts/issues
  • Commitment to ATASK mission of eradication of domestic violence and strengthening of Asian families and communities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a residential facility and/or with domestic violence survivors
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Current driver’s license and access to vehicle beneficial, but not required
  • Conversational ability in an Asian language beneficial, but not required
  • Passion for Social justice
  • Enjoys working with children
  • Flexibility to work additional shifts when needed
